Global Radio 1 is all about great music from a cadre of international DJs, Presenters and producers.  However, not many of us will be too familiar with the small city of Surat, located in Gujarat, India. Nestled only a few miles from the Arabian Sea, on the Tapi River, DJ Bijal was born here. No sooner had he reached the age of 1 his parents, middle-class tobacco wholesalers, travelled to America.  His early years were tough and spent mainly on the move as his parents searched for steady employment.

At 15,DJ Bijal acquired a Hi-Fi and  his first pair of turn-tables. He produced his  first mixtape, entitled No Doubt Dancing, and then put in hours of practice building experience until he landed his first major gig at Long Island University in New York City in 2001 and a residency followed  at Club Exit in NYC. He built a following amongst the  New York's hip hop/ reggae crowd culminating in huge interest from MTV as 'one to watch'. By 2005, other publications such as  The Ave Magazine have noticed his progress and are bringing him to the attention of the Indian urban music market. DJ Bijal by this time was adding the 'indian Influences' to his repertoire.

He worked with DJ Kurupt, The Master Jedi, to create Team Jedi, a partnership that produced DJ BiJal's first commercial release on vinyl, Sumeet and Jay- Zs Agony - , which was featured on Jedi Blends Volume 3. From spinning vinyl to being featured on vinyl, he went on to produce the Sumeet featuring Nivla Ghost - Remix and Deesha featuring Saj Supreme Do You Remember - Remix.

Now he's firmly part of dance music royalty.  He has even launched  his own hotel brand, Hotel BPM, located in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. What began as a fascination and hobby blossomed into his life's work.We are delighted to have DJ Bijal on the world's fastest growing internet station with a special 60 minute mix going out to the USA market that love what he does.
