What is 'on demand'? On demand just means when you want it. On Demand shows are stored on the server in a US based computer centre and when you press play will play out through your soundcard on your computer. You can also download the show as MP3 and then store it on your player. Back to top
What is 'Live'? The latest version of all our shows sit on Shoutcast computers and they 'run' 24 hours a day. Some of our shows are pre recorded so at whatever time you tune in to the live feed you will hear something of interest. Back to top
The sound quality on the Live feed is not great? Sometimes this is because of problems at the data centre. Sometimes this is down to what they call bandwidth. The more people listening at any time sometimes causes issues with sound quality. Its the same with your own home broadband systems. Back to top
How can I get to hear the station? Global Radio 1 is streamed 24/7 using Shoutcast. We partner with a british company, Proradiostream.com to provide us with the ability to have 10,000 live listeners listening simultaneously and an unlimited number of on demand listeners. We partner directly with live365 to provide a lower quality feed for those listeners who do not have fast internet access. Choose whichever feed suits you.

What are widgets? These are bits of web page code that do a particular job. They may play one show or show a clock or a counter. The great nerws is if you want your own 'widget' for your website, follow the links and it will take tyou to the widget site. Often ( not always) widgets are free. Back to top
Where is the station based? The clever bits of the radio station network are based in the US in a huge technology house called a data centre and Global Radio 1 works with a technical production company called Pro Radio Streaming.com who encode all the programmes and make sure you can hear them.
